“If the Club wasn’t here, it would hurt me a lot. The Club is a critical line of support for me and my children.”
This is true for many of the parents of our Club kids, not just Kieyera, whose two daughters, Kahmya and Zahryi, have been coming to the Club for 9 and 4 years, respectively.
When you learn the stories of parents like Kieyera, you see with greater clarity why the Boys & Girls Club is so critically important to our families. Our members’ parents often work multiple jobs, doing their best to provide for their kids. Many are doing this on their own, as single parents. The challenges can oftentimes feel completely overwhelming.
But with the support of the Club, things are different….
At the Club, parents find staff who care deeply for their children. Staff like Nini, who is always attentive to the moods and emotional dispositions of the kids as they file in through the front door. If someone looks down, sad, or lonely, Nini will make sure to circle back to that child to inquire about what is troubling them.
At the Club, parents find staff who will challenge their children to reach beyond their perceived limitations and push themselves to learn, grow, and become the best versions of themselves. Staff like Noah, who patiently works with our Club kids if they are struggling with their math or need a little extra help with their reading and vocabulary.
At the Club, we need YOU. We need your support so that we can turn your financial investment into a world of new opportunities for the kids we’ve been entrusted with. For the kids whose parents lean on us to do whatever it takes to help them empower their children.
I would like to make a direct impact on the lives of the kids in our community by donating to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County 2021 year-end campaign:
$1300 underwrites the cost of after-school programming for one child for one year
$500 provides one year of computer literacy instruction for one child
$250 provides healthy snacks and a hot dinner for 12 Club kids each week
